heat signature   An infrared "portrait" of an aircraft or other object which
    determines its vulnerability to heat-seeking missiles. 
high alpha   High angle of attack.     
high-level attack   An attack initiated from above 10,000 ft.
HIMAT   Highly Maneuverable Aircraft Technology.
hook   The device which is lowered from the tail of a carrier-based aircraft
    during the landing approach.  It catches the arresting cable. 	
Hornet   Nickname of the F/A-18.  (F/A stands for Fighter/Attack.)
HOTAS    Hands On Throttle And Stick -- A control setup which allows a
    pilot to perform all dogfighting actions without removing his hands from
    the stick or throttle.  
HSI   Horizontal Situation Indicator.
HUD   Head-Up Display -- A device which projects flight and weapons
    delivery information onto a transparent screen in the pilot's line of sight
    through the aircraft's wind screen.

indicated airspeed   The airspeed shown by an airspeed indicator and not
    corrected for error due to air density variations caused by altitude or
    temperature.	
inertial navigation   Guidance (as of a missile or aircraft)
